Israel destroys Hezbollah tunnels in Ali Al-Taher with over 1,100 tons of explosives

The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) has successfully completed the establishment of its security zone on the Ali al-Taher ridge in southern Lebanon, as reported by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Israel Katz on Thursday. The IDF soldiers dismantled the Hezbollah underground infrastructure that extended for more than two kilometers on the ridge.

The IDF discovered a complex network of underground tunnels, containing over 600 mines and explosive devices, dozens of Iranian-made rockets, missiles, and UAVs, as well as numerous machine guns and anti-tank missiles. The complex also housed a central command center belonging to Hezbollah's Badr Unit, complete with command centers, weapons storage rooms, and living quarters.

Essential for Hezbollah's operations, this two-decade-old terrorist network was designed to serve as a base for an operation aimed at conquering the Galilee. It provided observation and fire control over the strategic regions of Metulla and Kiryat Shmona. The IDF's destruction of this infrastructure marks the completion of its operational control over the Ali al-Taher ridge, both above and below ground.

Now, the IDF is preparing to defend the security zone and thwart any attempts by Hezbollah to return or rebuild their capabilities. The organization will maintain its presence in the area, focusing on destroying any further terrorist infrastructure and preventing Hezbollah's resurgence.
