IIT scholarships, fellowships for exam rankers: IIT Kharagpur’s Rs 90,000 grant to IIT Kanpur’s Rs 3 lakh aid

IIT Kharagpur celebrates its Platinum Jubilee by unveiling the Director’s Platinum Jubilee Excellence Fellowship (DPEF) 2026, designed to honor high-achieving candidates in national-level entrance exams like GATE, JAM, and JEE (Advanced). The fellowship aims to encourage these top performers to continue their education and research at IIT Kharagpur.

Meanwhile, IIT Kanpur offers a substantial scholarship of Rs 3 lakh annually to students ranking within the top 100 in JEE Advanced, covering tuition fees, hostel expenses, books, medical insurance, and living costs. IIT Roorkee provides Rs 25,000 monthly for top JEE Advanced rankers up to the 250th position, contingent on maintaining a CGPA of 8.0 or above.

In contrast, IIT Delhi combines JEE Advanced ranking with family income criteria, offering a full-ride fellowship for the top five undergraduates each year, including a scholarship specifically for the top woman JEE ranker. These scholarships serve the overarching purpose of attracting and retaining high-performing students, recognizing that exceptional academic achievement should be supported beyond mere admission to esteemed institutions.
