How to verify your academic certificates online through FG’s portal

The Federal Ministry of Education in Nigeria has launched an online portal called ESSVerify, allowing citizens to authenticate or evaluate their academic credentials conveniently from home. This portal is also useful for foreigners seeking to use their qualifications within Nigeria, as well as for institutions needing Ministry clearance for partnerships or programmes. Additionally, the platform offers eligibility or proficiency letters and letters of no objection.

To verify a document already issued by the Ministry, users must visit the ESSVerify portal (https://essverify.education.gov.ng/) and click on "Verify a document". They then need to enter the document number displayed on their ESS-issued certificate or letter, and click "Verify". The system will then confirm if the document is authentic.

To authenticate or evaluate a Nigerian qualification or evaluate a foreign qualification, users must create an account using a valid email, complete their profile, and log in. They must then select the appropriate service (Authentication, Evaluation, Eligibility/English Proficiency Letter, or Letter of No Objection) and provide personal and qualification details.

Users should upload clear and legible scans of the required documents, such as an official transcript if necessary. The Ministry charges a payment for this service, which is non-refundable.
