How to fast charge iPhone 18 Pro

The iPhone 18 Pro boasts even better battery life compared to its predecessors, yet it also offers faster wired charging. To achieve rapid charging on the new iPhone, Apple recommends using its dynamic 40-watt power adapter with a maximum output of 60-watts and a USB-C cable. This combination enables maximum charging speed, approximately 33% faster than previous pro iPhones.

With a 60-watt charger, the iPhone 18 Pro can charge from 0% to 50% in around 15 minutes, which is about 5 minutes quicker than the iPhone 17 Pro. Moreover, at this accelerated charging pace, users can obtain approximately 6 hours of video playback time following a quick five-minute charge. To meet these fast charging requirements, Apple specifies the need for a 60-watt USB PD 3.1-compatible power adapter with an Adjustable Voltage Supply feature.

Currently, the sole charger readily available that satisfies these criteria is the Apple 40W dynamic power adapter. Once we receive the phone, we'll conduct hands-on battery charge time tests using various third-party adapters to assess their performance. For example, existing chargers like the MacBook charger, rated at 96W or 140W, lack the Adjustable Voltage Supply feature.

There are also numerous third-party chargers exceeding 40-watts, such as the Anker 45W brick. Presumably, the iPhone 18 Pro will maintain comparable charging speed to the iPhone 17 Pro, fast charging from empty to 50% in approximately 20 minutes.

Despite this swift charging capability, wireless charging on the iPhone 18 Pro takes about 30 minutes to charge from 0% to 50% when paired with the Apple MagSafe Charger and any 35-watt power brick. When Apple's foldable iPhone Duo debuts next month, it will also support the same brisk charging speeds as the iPhone 18 Pro, provided the appropriate accessories are utilized.
