Hillary Clinton Claims Voters Don’t Believe Trump Anymore: ‘Put Lipstick on a Pig and It’s Still a Pig’

Former U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton made an appearance on MS NOW's "Morning Joe" Thursday to discuss her view that American voters have "given up" on President Trump's promises, stating, "You can put lipstick on a pig and it's still a pig." Clinton was responding to remarks made by Trump at a Dallas rally on Wednesday, where he asserted that America was "winning" the war in Iran and argued that his administration had no choice but to engage in military action to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons.

Clinton dismissed Trump's comments, saying she found his Republican mini-convention and speech to be a strong case for Democrats and expressed her confidence in Democrats taking back both the House and the Senate.

Clinton noted that even those who initially supported Trump are now disillusioned with his actions, including the ongoing war in Iran, rising costs in the United States, and concerns about the Trump family's possible politically-motivated profits. She attributed the souring of American voters' opinion of Trump to these real issues in people's lives.

Clinton emphasized that despite Trump having a 30% support base that would follow him anywhere, the vast majority of Americans, particularly independent swing voters, are done and want to curb the power of the president in the Oval Office.

Host Joe Scarborough then asked Clinton about the effectiveness of the Republican Party's strategy of attacking rising Democratic Socialist candidates. Clinton agreed that the language and positions used by some far-left candidates were going too far, but also pointed out real challenges facing the country, such as the housing and healthcare crises.

She advocated for a transition from slogans to actual results, once Democrats gain control of the House and have a diverse caucus, allowing them to focus on creating legislation and making a difference.
