Have you smelt it? Dubai residents report mysterious foul odour across many parts of the city

Dubai's residents have been noticing a strange, unpleasant smell across various neighborhoods for the past couple of days. The Dubai Municipality's Call Centre is aware of the issue and is working to resolve it. Chinju Navas, a resident of Springs 6, described the smell as a rotting and foul odor that she first noticed while dropping her daughter off at school.

She had to use body mist in her car to mask the smell. Several other residents from different areas, such as Dubai Marina, Jumeirah Lake Towers, Jumeirah Beach Residence, The Springs, The Meadows, Al Barsha, Al Furjan, Discovery Gardens, and Discovery Gardens, have reported the same unpleasant odor. Some residents have compared it to sewage, burnt plastic, or chemicals, while others found it pungent and rotten.

The Dubai Municipality Call Centre confirmed receiving complaints about the foul smell and stated that they were working to fix the problem. While some residents questioned whether the smell could be coming from the Jebel Ali Sewage Treatment Plant, the Dubai Municipality representative confirmed that the source was under investigation.
