Google Wallet passes get fullscreen redesign on Android

Google Wallet, the digital payment platform, is undergoing a significant visual overhaul for Android users. The latest update, following the homepage redesign in May, replaces the traditional small rectangular card design with a full-screen pass display. This change brings the entire Google Wallet interface to the forefront, with the brand's primary color now dominating the background.

To enhance usability, scrolling down the new pass layout now provides quick access to essential actions. These include dialing associated phone numbers and visiting the official website for the respective pass. Within the redesigned interface, a "Settings" option allows users to modify their pass nickname and control its usage, a feature that was previously hidden within the three-dot overflow menu.

Interestingly, the redesign also grants users the ability to revert to the old pass design by tapping the rewind icon located in the top-right corner of the screen. This feature enables a seamless transition back to the previous layout for those who prefer it. The redesign is applicable to all types of passes, including loyalty cards and boarding passes, as well as manually created ones. However, it's important to note that transit cards will continue to use the original pass design.

While the new design undoubtedly offers a more visually appealing user experience, it is worth mentioning that some background colors can be quite bright, particularly when using passes in low-light environments.
