Google appears to be done with tablets, again

It appears that Google has decided to discontinue its only remaining tablet model, the Pixel Tablet. Just three years after its introduction, the device has been removed from Google's store, and the entire Tablets section has been erased from the storefront. The Pixel Tablet, priced at $899 at launch and featuring an 11-inch 2560 x 1600 LCD powered by the Tensor G2, received positive reviews but was not a major threat to Apple's dominant iPad line.

The removal of the Pixel Tablet from Google's store is likely a sign that the device has been discontinued. While some Pixel Tablet accessories remain listed on the Google Store, most are no longer in stock, with only the Wasserstein Pixel Tablet Speaker Stand available for purchase. It could be a very long time before we see another tablet from Google, as the company canceled the Pixel Tablet 2 in November 2024 and confirmed in August 2025 that development had been paused while reconsidering the tablet category's future.

Google has struggled to create a tablet that matches the popularity of its early budget hit, the Nexus 7. Its previous tablets, including the Nexus 10, Nexus 9, Pixel C, and Pixel Slate, did not capture the same level of success. The Pixel Tablet joins the 307 products and services listed on Google's Killed by Google website, alongside Stadia, the Jamboard, and Google+.
