French economy falls behind rest of Europe: Slow growth, rising inflation and unemployment
Growth is not expected to exceed 0.4% in 2026, down from the previously forecast 0.7%, according to INSEE, the French National Institute of Statistics and Economic Studies. The main drivers of demand – consumer spending and investment – have stalled, while inflation and unemployment continue to rise.
