"Free speech absolutist" Elon Musk threatens legal action over unflattering documentary

Elon Musk, a staunch advocate for unfettered speech, is now employing legal counsel in his ongoing dispute with the filmmakers of a documentary that portrays him in a negative light. The tech titan, who recently acquired the platform X (formerly Twitter), has penned a letter to the producers of Alex Gibney's film, alleging that it contains false information, particularly concerning his alleged role in the 2024 U.S. presidential election.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Musk's attorney, Alex Spiro, asserts that the documentary suggests Musk used his Starlink satellites to sway the election in favor of his political adversary, Donald Trump. However, Gibney's film, which has not yet been released to the public, presents evidence that refutes these claims, as multiple election officials, cybersecurity experts, and fact-checkers have debunked the notion of "Starlink vote-rigging" in November 2024.

In response to Musk's legal threats, Jigsaw Productions, the company behind the documentary, maintains that Gibney is known for producing meticulously researched and fact-driven films that delve deep into the lives and work of prominent individuals and organizations.
