France will not support Infantino in FIFA election – Federation chief

The French Football Federation (FFF) has declared it will not support Gianni Infantino's bid for another term as FIFA president in the upcoming March 2027 election. The FFF's stance is in line with other European federations, including Belgium, Italy, Scotland, Sweden, and Wales, which have also decided to distance themselves from Infantino's candidacy.

Despite backlash over his proposed inclusion of private investment in the men's and women's World Cups, FIFA has confirmed that Infantino will run for the presidency in the upcoming election, as he remains the only candidate at this point. Philippe Diallo, the FFF president, expressed the federation's discontent, stating that the trust placed in the president of FIFA has been "betrayed" and that the proposed governance of global football no longer aligns with their values. A unanimous decision within the FFF led to the withdrawal of support for Infantino's candidacy.
