FDS heli crash: Remains to be released after DNA identification

The remains of all five victims of the Flying Doctor Service helicopter crash in Long Lellang, Sarawak, will be handed over to their families once DNA identification results are available. Sarawak Police Commissioner Datuk Mohamad Zainal Abdullah disclosed that post-mortems on the victims are ongoing at Miri Hospital following the crash on Tuesday.

He emphasized that the remains will only be released to the next of kin upon completion of the DNA identification process. Post-mortems have not yet been finalized, and the remains will be returned to the victims' families only after the DNA test outcomes are received. The DNA identification process is essential to verify the identities of the victims before their remains are turned over to their respective families.

The Chemistry Department is conducting the DNA tests, which are anticipated to take one to two days. The five victims identified were pilot Captain Zainol Afiq Bee Sham, medical officer Dr. Ainul Baraah Kamaruddin, medical assistant Alexson Adit Henry, and nurses Debra Moset and Jessie Paya Jok.
