Elon Musk Threatens Legal Action Over Alex Gibney Documentary, Calls It a ‘Hit Piece’

Elon Musk reacted to the premiere of Alex Gibney's four-hour documentary "Musk" at the Venice Film Festival by branding it a "hit piece" and warning of potential legal action over allegations that he leveraged his Starlink satellites to sway the 2024 presidential election. Spiro, representing Jigsaw Productions, stated they had attempted contact with Musk multiple times, requesting an opportunity to present the facts in the usual fact-checking process.

However, Musk refused to engage. The letter emphasizes that the project began with a preconceived conclusion, rather than an inquiry. It asserts that the film is based on the testimonies of individuals with known personal disputes against Musk, without independent corroboration. It also claims that the allegations have been debunked by multiple state election officials, cybersecurity researchers, and fact-checkers.

The letter intimates that litigation is "reasonably anticipated." Jigsaw Productions responded, praising Gibney's dedication to in-depth, fact-driven documentaries. Musk has since criticized the film on X, alleging that Gibney lacks integrity and that his documentaries are "boring." The documentary "Musk" is scheduled for release by Bleecker Street in the U.S. on October 16.
