Electronic Transactions Bill Delayed 3rd Time in a Row by NA Committee

For the third consecutive time, the National Assembly's Information Technology Committee has postponed the Electronic Transactions (Amendment) Bill 2026. During the committee's latest meeting, MNA Sadiq Ali Memon expressed frustration, stating that the government has not consulted the party on the proposed amendments. He also noted that the Pakistan Peoples Party's legislative committee has yet to provide any instructions on the bill.

The committee chairman emphasized that this is the third time the legislation has been deferred, urging the government to resolve the issue with its coalition partners. Memon suggested that the government should either seek input from its allies on the bill or withdraw it altogether. The latest delay means that the Electronic Transactions (Amendment) Bill 2026 will not progress from the committee until the concerns of members and coalition partners are addressed.
