Egypt, France’s Accor discuss major hotel expansion plans

Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly expressed Egypt's eagerness to collaborate with French hospitality giant Accor, indicating a potential influx of more of the company's hotel brands into the Egyptian market. Accor's Chairman and CEO, Sébastien Bazin, along with Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Sherif Fathy, discussed the company's expansion plans during a meeting in Egypt.

Madbouly highlighted that Egypt is offering additional investment opportunities in tourism, particularly in regions with abundant natural and tourist attractions. He emphasized the importance of continued cooperation with Accor to devise a comprehensive strategy for future growth and investment. Bazin, in turn, acknowledged Accor's keen interest in Egypt as a crucial strategic partner, foreseeing substantial opportunities for expansion as the nation's tourism sector continues to flourish.

The French company plans to add approximately 25,000 new hotel rooms in Egypt over the next three years, while diversifying its brand offerings to cater to the unique attributes of various destinations.

Bazin underscored the significance of authenticity and quality, asserting that hotel experiences should embody Egypt's culture and local identity. He proposed upgrading existing Accor properties and offered to share the company's expertise in developing international hotel and tourism products. Moreover, Bazin suggested partnering with the Egyptian government to establish a specialized hospitality academy in Egypt, aiming to train and qualify tourism and hotel staff in accordance with international standards, all while preserving Egyptian culture.

Fathy concurred that Accor's expansion plans harmonize with Egypt's tourism growth objectives and the necessity to augment high-quality hotel accommodations. He emphasized the potential to attract more French tourists and called for enhanced joint marketing efforts between Egypt and Accor, leveraging the company's international network to bring in more visitors.

Both parties agreed to maintain communication on new investment prospects, advancing ongoing projects, broadening hotel brands, and collaborating on training and skills development to bolster Egypt's ambitions to expand hotel capacity and diversify its tourism portfolio.
