Drake Maye’s three interceptions prove costly in Patriots’ season-opening loss

In New England Patriots' season-opening loss to the Seattle Seahawks, quarterback Drake Maye's three interceptions proved costly. Following halftime, Maye's decision-making placed his team in difficult situations and contributed to the collapse. He attempted a pass to wide receiver Mack Hollins that fell short, allowing Seattle's cornerback Josh Jobe to secure the game-sealing turnover with 26 seconds left in the fourth quarter.

Maye's ensuing decision prevented a field goal attempt that could have sent the game to overtime. Earlier in the game, Maye's second interception set Seattle up in Patriots territory, which ultimately led to the game-winning field goal. The third-year quarterback also had an opportunity to connect with A.J. Brown for a touchdown, but the ball was underthrown.

Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel expressed his disappointment in Maye's performance, emphasizing that quarterbacks can't throw three interceptions. He expressed confidence in Maye, stating that the team needs to start off on the right foot and build upon their success from the previous year.
