DAP tak senang ramalan pilihan raya, Kian Ming ulas keluar DAP

Bekas Ahli Parlimen Bangi, Ong Kian Ming, expressed his dissatisfaction with DAP's prediction of electoral outcomes and his decision to leave the party. Ong initially predicted that Pakatan Harapan (PH) would suffer a significant defeat in the Johor PRN election, which he later revealed was made during a media briefing, but became public after certain influential individuals obtained a copy.

This prediction was accurate, as Loke Siew Fook, the Deputy President of DAP, lost in the DUN Chennah constituency to a Barisan Nasional candidate by a margin of 688 votes. Ong attributed this to a strong wave of opposition against PH, alongside a narrative of national unity. He noted that no DAP leaders questioned his prediction or asked about his analysis, suggesting a disapproval of his actions.

Ong resigned from DAP on August 31, declining any offer to join another party or contest in the 2016 PRU, and insisting he would campaign for former Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin if he were nominated. He had been with DAP since 2012 and had served as a political education aide for the party. Ong resigned from DAP two weeks after announcing his intention to leave, stating that there was no immediate reaction from the party, but he was eventually sidelined due to a lack of relevance.

His failure in the 2022 CEC elections, along with former DAP leader Tony Pua, indicated that they were no longer considered valuable to the party. Pua also lost in the Selangor state election and was not included in the state list, before both Ong and Pua were removed from the party list during the CEC elections. Ong acknowledged that he had decided not to contest in the 2022 PRU before the CEC elections and had advised party President Lim Guan Eng not to take the position of Secretary-General.

He expressed faith in Syahredzan Johan to replace him as a Member of Parliament for Bangi, but accepted that the party and its leaders might be more capable than him. Ong stated that he was okay with this, as he had other roles and responsibilities.
