Dabo Swinney on Clemson’s quarterback after listing co-starters for Week 2

Clemson will utilize both Christopher Vizzina and Tait Reynolds as quarterbacks in their upcoming game against Georgia Southern, but head coach Dabo Swinney has not disclosed which player will serve as the starter. The Tigers placed Vizzina and Reynolds on the depth chart as co-starters prior to their home opener against Georgia Southern. Swinney maintained the secrecy surrounding the decision during his final media availability before the game.

Both quarterbacks participated in Clemson's opening match against LSU, which ended in a 51-10 loss. Vizzina started the game and primarily threw in the first half, while Reynolds entered late in the second quarter and made a brief appearance in the final quarter. Vizzina ultimately returned for additional snaps. The senior completed 10 of his 16 passes for 83 yards, but his game was marred by a first-quarter interception that LSU converted into a touchdown.

Before halftime, he finished 6 of 11 for 51 yards. Reynolds, on the other hand, threw for 22 yards on four of his six attempts during his college debut.

Swinney was inquired about whether Clemson had already determined the starter for the Georgia Southern game. He refused to disclose any further information beyond the fact that both players will be involved. "The team isn't concerned with that," Swinney stated. "The team is just focused on what they need to do. They're all aware of the situation – that the players are competing.

But they'll both play." This leaves some uncertainty about the Tigers' first offensive possession on Saturday, but there will be no doubt about their overall game plan. Vizzina and Reynolds will both have the opportunity to showcase their abilities as Clemson aims for a significantly improved offensive performance in Week 2.
