The Computerised School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS) has increased staffing at resolution centres nationwide due to long queues and delays in resolving parents' placement issues. Media Relations Officer Hashmin Mohammed revealed this on Joy FM’s Newsnight, stating that the decision was made following complaints about some centres struggling to attend to the high volume of parents seeking help.
The additional personnel were deployed by the CSSPS coordinator and supported by ministry officials to address the delays more effectively.
Mohammed also announced the implementation of a decentralized system to streamline the process for parents to report their concerns. Resolution centres operate around the clock, issuing tickets to parents that allow them to track the status of their complaints. However, Mohammed acknowledged that the situation would not improve until the disparity between available vacancies and students' preferred schools is resolved.
He emphasized that while thousands of parents have had their issues addressed, he could not provide a specific number at the moment. Mohammed cautioned parents against resorting to paying money to individuals in an attempt to expedite the placement process, mentioning that reports of such practices had been brought to the attention of officials in the Ashanti Region.
He stressed that parents are not required to pay any official or third party for CSSPS placement services.
