Court delays rights hearing for fake agency DG Adeyemi

The Federal High Court in Abuja has postponed a fundamental rights hearing for detained self-styled Director-General of the Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council, Adeniyi Adeyemi. The court decided to return the case to its registry for reassignment after determining that the 72-hour period given to the respondents to present their arguments on why Adeyemi's remaining reliefs should be granted had not ended.

This case emerged from an earlier court order instructing the respondents to respond to Adeyemi's application. Adeyemi's lawyer, Muhammad Abdulaziz, informed the court that all the respondents had been served with the necessary documents and that his client was prepared to continue with the proceedings. During the hearing, Justice Obiora Egwuatu raised concerns about the validity of the proof of service for the hearing notice and emphasized that the 72-hour period was still active.

He urged the respondents to complete their task within the given timeframe. Following the judge's instructions, the case file was returned to the registry for reassignment, with the applicant set to return after the respondents' 72-hour period had elapsed and the matter was ready for hearing.
