Court asked to order Élections Québec to mail out English voting information

A lawyer is requesting a court order to compel Élections Québec to distribute voter information in both French and English. Élections Québec has announced that it will only provide the documents in French this year, in compliance with new language legislation. The lawyer, Doug Mitchell, argues that not providing information in English could prevent people from exercising their fundamental right to vote. Élections Québec offered a QR code for voters to access English information online, but Mitchell contends that many people, particularly seniors and those without cellphones or reliable internet, cannot access it. The lawyer was denied an exemption to send information in both languages by the courts.
