CEO Alam Maritim didakwa tipu kadar sewa kapal

CEO of Alam Maritim Resources Bhd, Azmi Ahmad, appeared before the Kuala Lumpur Magistrate's Court facing two charges of fraud related to charter rates. Azmi, 67, pleaded not guilty after reading both accusations. The first charge alleges he deceived Principal Officer TH Alam Management Sdn Bhd, Iskandar Mohd Zaffa, by concealing a higher daily charter rate of RM80,500 in a work order dated August 24, 2023, to persuade him to sign the BIMCO Supplytime 2017 agreement.

The second charge involves concealing a higher daily charter rate of RM110,000 in a work order dated January 15, 2024, to coerce Iskandar into signing the same agreement. Both incidents allegedly occurred at a building in Jalan Radin Anum, Bandar Baru Sri Petaling, on September 6, 2023, and January 16, 2024. Azmi was released on bail with a RM300,000 surety bond, subject to conditions imposed by the prosecution, including reporting to the SPRM office in Putrajaya every three months and refraining from harassing witnesses until the case concludes.

Azmi's lawyer, Wan Muhd Ariff Ameer Wan Normazlan, requested a reduced bond of RM100,000 due to the high amount, as the respondent's cooperation was crucial during the investigation. The court set the next hearing for November 18.
