Bynario raises €2.1M to develop AI-powered platform for software vulnerabilities

Cybersecurity firm Bynario has secured €2.1 million in a pre-seed funding round to create an AI-driven platform aimed at identifying, prioritizing, and addressing software vulnerabilities. The investment round was spearheaded by 360 Capital Partners, with additional backing from Prana Ventures. Bynario is crafting a line of security solutions to assist organizations in managing vulnerabilities throughout their systems, from coding to deployment.

The company's technology integrates AI with offensive security research to evaluate vulnerabilities and guide security teams in prioritizing remediation efforts. The rising relevance of AI in both software development and vulnerability detection is posing a significant challenge for security teams. While AI speeds up software creation, it also enables researchers and attackers to discover vulnerabilities more rapidly.

This, coupled with the mounting number of applications, dependencies, and third-party components that organizations must assess, amplifies the volume of potential security issues they must manage. Alfredo Pesoli, co-founder and CEO of Bynario, expressed concern that the declining costs associated with AI-assisted vulnerability research could render a broader spectrum of software flaws appealing to attackers, intensifying the pressure on security teams to identify and tackle relevant risks.

He emphasized that "defense at scale needs the same depth as offense." As AI continues to lower the cost of vulnerability research and exploitation, more exploitable vulnerabilities become enticing targets for attackers. The challenge for defenders is only becoming more intense. Bynario has employed advanced AI models in offensive security research as well.

In a recent project centered on Apple’s macOS Screen Sharing technology, the company's researchers uncovered previously unknown vulnerabilities, which were subsequently reported to Apple and resolved through software patches. This research underscores Bynario's broader commitment to helping organizations separate genuine security risks from the mounting flood of findings.

The funding will be employed to further advance Bynario's security platform, grow its engineering team, and bolster its collaboration with enterprise customers.
