Boy, 15, electrocuted at school as family demands answers

A 15-year-old Grade 7 learner, Tšegofatšo Ntimani, tragically lost his life at Mokutupi Primary School in Limpopo after being electrocuted by an exposed power cable during a school lunch break. His family was unaware that his final journey would be his last. Tšegofatšo left for school as usual on Thursday morning, unaware that it would mark the end of his life.

The incident occurred near the mobile classrooms, where a school staff member contacted emergency services, and a teacher informed Tšegofatšo's parents. The School Governing Body was also notified. Tšegofatšo's death has left his family devastated and raised concerns about the safety of learners at the school. His uncle, Daniel Sambo, stated that learners had been splashing water, and Tšegofatšo may have come into contact with an exposed power cable during this activity.

The family is struggling to accept the loss and is demanding answers from the education department. They have also expressed concerns about the safety of other children at the school, as the exposed cables have been left after alleged theft of parts. The Limpopo Department of Education is investigating the incident and providing psychosocial support to affected students and staff.
