Bob McKay, one of greatest offensive lineman in Texas Longhorns history, dies at age 78

Bob McKay, a College Football Hall of Famer and a standout offensive lineman for the Texas Longhorns, passed away on Thursday at the age of 78. Born in Austin, Texas, McKay was a first-team All-American in 1969 and played a pivotal role in introducing the innovative wishbone offense to the Longhorns, which contributed to the team's success and helped the program secure two national championships.

McKay's exceptional talent was recognized when he was selected in the first round of the 1970 NFL Draft by the Cleveland Browns. He went on to play nine seasons in the NFL, split between the Browns and the New England Patriots. Throughout his career, McKay's contributions to the sport were acknowledged by his induction into several prestigious halls of fame, including the Texas Athletics Hall of Honor, the Texas High School Football Hall of Fame, and the National Football Foundation College Football Hall of Fame in 2017.
