BMW Signs Brad Binder To Factory WSBK Team

BMW has announced that South African rider Brad Binder will join its factory ROKiT BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Team for the 2027 season. Binder, who has been a prominent figure in the Grand Prix paddock since 2012, will be riding on a production-based bike. He will be partnered with Miguel Oliveira, whose contract with BMW for 2027 was confirmed earlier this week. The duo will be lining up together ahead of the French round of the WorldSBK championship at Magny-Cours.

This pairing reunites Binder and Oliveira, who have spent considerable time together during their tenure with KTM across Moto3, Moto2, and MotoGP races. The two riders are the only ones to have ever secured a MotoGP victory on a KTM bike. With Binder and Oliveira now confirmed for the upcoming season, Danilo Petrucci's involvement in the BMW WorldSBK project will conclude after the 2026 season. BMW is actively exploring ways to keep the Italian engaged in other capacities.

Sven Blusch, head of BMW Motorrad Motorsport, expressed gratitude towards Danilo for his dedication and commitment. The team aims to wrap up the current season strongly and is working towards a future together in different projects. Binder arrives with a solid track record and, despite a decline in recent performances, had achieved success earlier in his career.

His best championship finish was fourth place in 2023, and he has nine podium finishes to his name. Heading into the upcoming Misano round, Binder stands 13th in the overall standings. Blusch emphasized BMW's goal of fighting for the World Championship title, acknowledging that Binder will need time to adapt to the BMW M 1000 RR and the new World Championship.
