Barrie police identify human remains found in August as victim of 2025 double homicide

Barrie police have positively identified human remains discovered near a former homeless encampment as those of William 'Blake' Robinson, one of the two victims in a brutal 2025 double homicide. The skeletal remains were found on August 13 in a wooded area close to the encampment on Anne and Tiffin streets, which had been the focus of a significant police investigation the previous year.

Initially, police treated the discovery as an unrelated case, but after the remains were sent to the Centre of Forensic Sciences for identification, it was confirmed that they belonged to Robinson, who was 45 years old at the time of his death. Robert Ladouceur, aged 52, was arrested and charged with the alleged murder and dismemberment of Robinson, as well as David Cheesequay, 41.

The investigation began after Robinson was reported missing on February 10, while Cheesequay's disappearance was reported towards the end of July. Police conducted searches at the encampment in Barrie, a property in Huntsville, and another location in North Simcoe in connection with the case. Ladouceur is currently held in police custody and faces multiple charges, including first-degree and second-degree murder, as well as two counts of indignity to a dead body, along with firearms and drug-related offenses.
