At least three killed in Russian strikes on Ukraine while Zelenskyy is in Canada for talks

Marketplace sellers on the Russian platform Wildberries have begun storing their products in personal warehouses following Ukrainian drone attacks on the site's distribution centers. According to data from the bank Tochka, shared by the Russian business newspaper Kommersant, the percentage of sellers utilizing the FBS (Fulfillment by Seller) model, which involves keeping and dispatching goods from their own warehouse, nearly doubled to 97.4% by the end of August.

A comparable shift was observed at Ozon, where the percentage of sellers employing their own warehouses increased by 7.8 percentage points, reaching 73.1%. Conversely, the percentage of sellers utilizing the FBO (Fulfillment by Operator) model, where goods are dispatched from the marketplace's own warehouse, declined at both companies.

Wildberries commented to Kommersant that they have indeed witnessed an uptick in seller interest in FBS, but did not confirm it as a widespread transformation, stating that sellers are attempting to merge multiple models. Ozon did not immediately provide a response to a request for comment. Experts consulted by Kommersant noted that marketplaces charge higher fees to sellers utilizing their own warehouses; however, they acknowledged that for goods with a consistent demand, relying on a marketplace's warehouse offers benefits such as quicker delivery.

Ukrainian forces have targeted all of Wildberries' primary warehouses since mid-July, and Ozon's logistics centers were also hit. As of early August, the damage inflicted on Wildberries and its vendors from the drone assaults was estimated at hundreds of billions of rubles. Deputy Industry and Trade Minister Roman Chekushov commented on September 9 that not all logistics facilities damaged during Ukrainian drone strikes need to be reconstructed. He emphasized the necessity of first comprehending "how logistics will be restructured."
