Ashanti Region wins 2026 MTN Elite U-19 Championship

Ashanti Region has claimed victory in the 2026 MTN Elite U-19 Championship, defeating defending champions Eastern Region 4-3 in an exhilarating final at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram. The 11-day tournament featured two powerhouse teams delivering a thrilling seven-goal match that exceeded expectations and culminated in a dramatic conclusion.

Despite Eastern Region's three comebacks, Ashanti Region's resilient performance ultimately secured their first championship title. Elvis Kwarteng of Ashanti Region was named Most Valuable Player for his crucial impact on the final match. Central Region was awarded the Fair Play Team, while Ashanti Region's Raphael Amankwah and coach Kelvin Osei Owusu were honored as the Best Coach and Goalkeeper of the Tournament, respectively.

Dennis Adjei of Greater Accra Region topped the scoring charts with six goals, and Central Region's Desmond Korlettey was recognized as the Most Valuable Player overall, earning four MVP awards during the championship.
