Apple Rates iPhone 18 Pro Slightly Easier to Repair Than 17 Pro

Apple's repairability scores indicate that the iPhone 18 Pro and Max are slightly easier to repair than their predecessors, the iPhone 17 Pro and Max. The data was released in an EU-required product information sheet. Each device received an overall index number out of 5, with the iPhone 18 Pro and Max scoring 3.14, up from 3.04.

Disassembly depth improved by 0.10, while fasteners remained unchanged. Tools saw a significant improvement, jumping from 2.05 to 2.55, while spare parts stayed at 4.00. Software updates and repair information both scored a perfect 1.00 and 5.00, respectively, as EU awards only when manufacturers commit to longer device support.

The iPhone 17 Pro and Max models share similar builds and repair methods, but both new models received a class C rating on the A-E scale. iFixit, a renowned repair site, is expected to conduct a teardown of one of the new iPhones soon after its September 18 launch.
