Apple Quietly Hikes iPhone Prices After iPhone 18 Launch

In the wake of unveiling the iPhone 18 Pro lineup and the debut of the iPhone Duo, Apple has discreetly raised the prices of several existing iPhone models. The price hike is seen in iPhone 17, iPhone 17e, iPhone Air, and iPhone 16, each now costing $100 more than their initial launch prices.

In the United States, the new starting price for the iPhone 17 is now $899, up from its original launch price. The iPhone 17e has seen an increase to $699, while the iPhone Air now begins at $1,099. The iPhone 16 has also been adjusted, with the base 128GB version priced at $799.

Global price increase is a rather unusual move for Apple, as they typically lower the prices of older iPhones post a new generation launch. The current increase can be attributed to the ongoing memory supply shortage. Moreover, Apple has been increasing prices across various product lines in recent months, including Macs, iPads, and HomePods.

The same trend has been noticed in India as well. The iPhone 17 now starts at approximately $1,050, the iPhone Air has increased to around $1,575, the iPhone 17e starts at about $840, and the iPhone 16 begins at around $945. This means customers who were looking at previous-generation iPhones will now have to pay higher prices as opposed to the usual discounted prices that follow a new Apple launch.
