App Store Submissions Now Open for iOS 27, macOS 27, and Other OS Releases

Apple has opened the submission process for developers to bring their apps and games to the App Store, incorporating the fresh features of iOS 27, iPadOS 27, macOS 27, tvOS 27, visionOS 27, and watchOS 27. These advancements include the Apple Intelligence and Foundation Models framework. Developers are advised to utilize the Xcode 27 Release Candidate, incorporate the latest SDKs into their applications, conduct testing with TestFlight, and subsequently submit for review.

A crucial difference for macOS developers is that macOS 27 will exclusively be available on Apple Silicon, while macOS 26 will be the last version to support Intel Mac computers and Rosetta. To maximize performance on Apple Silicon, developers should configure their Xcode build architecture to arm64 only. Furthermore, developers must now provide answers to age rating inquiries, particularly for apps with social media functionalities, due to the introduction of new Time Allowances for parents.

In preparation for the App Store, developers must utilize new product page headers and search result assets, taking advantage of the new product page preview tool in App Store Connect. The minimum requirements for app submissions starting April 2027 stipulate that iOS and iPadOS apps must be constructed using the iOS 27 & iPadOS 27 SDK or later. tvOS apps require the tvOS 27 SDK or later, visionOS apps the visionOS 27 SDK or later, and watchOS apps the watchOS 27 SDK or later.

This represents a notable shift for developers to fully embrace the newest Apple platforms and technologies.
