Alumni plan N500m for Oyo school development

The Old Students’ Association of Ipapo Community Grammar School has unveiled a plan to raise N500 million to support development projects at the institution in celebration of its 50th anniversary. The Golden Jubilee celebration, set to take place from September 14 to 20, 2026, will encompass a range of activities including education, career development, sports, health, community engagement and social events.

According to a statement from the association, the funds will be used to complete a multipurpose hall and upgrade existing buildings and facilities within the school. The multipurpose hall will serve as a versatile venue for academic, cultural, social, and community activities. The association expressed its intention to give back to the institution that has contributed to the development of its alumni.

They emphasized that the projects are designed to honor the school's legacy and enhance the learning and social environment for current and future students. The total cost of the planned interventions is N500 million, and the association is urging individuals, corporate organizations, friends of the school, and other well-wishers to contribute to the fundraising efforts.

The association's National Secretary, Ereola Shiyanbola, and President, Femi Olawore, signed the statement. Upon completion, the multipurpose hall will be formally handed over to the school as a lasting tribute to the 50th anniversary celebration. The anniversary festivities will kick off on Monday, September 14, with a series of events including an awareness campaign, anniversary walk, tree planting, and press conference.

The week-long program will also feature interactive sessions, a career day, health screenings, a novelty football match, and other activities.
