AI-driven anti-aging fuels next wave of Korea's medical tourism

The Korean medical tourism industry is poised for a significant advancement, propelled by the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) and anti-aging treatments. At a recent Medicon Black Roundtable, experts from five major medical tourism sectors - ophthalmology, plastic surgery, dermatology, dentistry, and health checkups - discussed the potential impact of AI on the industry.

The panel emphasized that Korea already boasts a robust medical foundation and advanced technology. However, AI brings unprecedented possibilities that were previously unattainable. In a roundtable discussion organized by The Korea Times and the Korea Medical Tourism Promotion Association (KMTPA), experts highlighted how AI and anti-aging care could propel Korea's medical tourism to new heights.

From initial diagnosis to treatment, the convergence of AI, K-beauty, wellness, and Korea's national brand can attract more foreign patients to the country, said Kim Jae-kyoung, managing director of Content and Business Planning at The Korea Times. Moreover, with the increasing interest in anti-aging treatments, hospitals will no longer be limited to offering a single specialty. Instead, they can now provide comprehensive care, integrating various medical fields for a holistic patient experience.
