ADB set to finalise ML-1 design by Oct

Islamabad, Pakistan – The Asian Development Bank (ADB) is expected to finalize the design of Pakistan's Main Line-1 (ML-1) railway project by October, paving the way for further procurement and implementation steps, according to recent discussions. Federal Minister for Economic Affairs Senator Ahad Cheema convened a meeting with the ADB delegation to evaluate the project's advancement, focusing on the timely completion of the design stage.

The ADB confirmed that its technical team and Project Consultants are diligently working on the project with the aim of finalizing the design by October. Once completed, they intend to collaborate closely with the government to swiftly proceed with procurement and subsequent stages. The delegation expressed appreciation for the progress made thus far and highlighted the necessity of maintaining close coordination among all stakeholders to ensure the project's timely completion.

Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif underscored the project's high priority and his eagerness to see it move toward implementation promptly. He assured the ADB delegation of the government's readiness to fulfill its part of the requirements and provide necessary support. Both parties reaffirmed their commitment to working in close coordination to facilitate the ML-1 project's steady progress.
