Yilwatda begins two-week vacation ahead of 2027 polls

Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has embarked on a two-week vacation outside Nigeria, citing the exceptionally demanding nature of his first year in office. According to a party statement, this respite aims to allow Yilwatda to rest, recharge and reflect before the 2027 general elections.

The APC chairman had been heavily involved in party activities, including consultations, travels and strategic engagements, to strengthen the ruling party ahead of the elections. Some of Yilwatda's achievements during his tenure have included the successful organization of the APC National Convention, strengthening the party's internal structures, and conducting primary elections at various levels, positioning the APC as Nigeria's leading political party and one of Africa's largest.

The party emphasized that Yilwatda's vacation should not be seen as disengagement from his responsibilities, rather as an opportunity to step back briefly and reflect on the immense responsibilities ahead. The APC chairman will also use this time to sharpen his strategic thinking for the upcoming 2027 elections, seen as a defining moment for the party and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's Renewed Hope agenda.

Yilwatda is expected to return to Nigeria at the end of the vacation and resume his official duties.
