Valheim Deep North: How to get the Intricate Key

In the far reaches of Valheim 1.0, the Deep North presents a formidable challenge. Upon reaching this icy region, you'll encounter an imposing door that necessitates an Intricate Key for access. But what exactly is an Intricate Key and how can you obtain one? The answer lies in a multi-step process that requires exploration, crafting, and combat.

First, venture into the Deep North and seek out small snow-covered villages. Within these villages, identify the largest multi-story dwelling. Inside, you must descend through a large hole in the floor to enter hidden tunnels. These tunnels, though treacherous due to hostile enemies, are crucial for the key's acquisition.

The tunnels are littered with enemies and glowing blue ice formations known as Frostcores. Collected moulds, found in the tunnels, are the key ingredients for crafting Intricate Keys. Note that each mould can only be used once, so you'll need to locate at least three Intricate Key moulds.

Upon using the first Frostcore, you'll learn the recipe for the Frost Foundry. To build this foundry at your base, you'll require 10 Frostcores, 15 iron, and 20 stone. Additionally, you'll need ice, which can be harvested by using a black metal pickaxe on ice in the Deep North. Ice is essential for crafting the Frigid Kiln, which requires 10 Frostcores, 20 stone, and 5 ice.

The most challenging part of the process involves crafting a cast of the Intricate Key using bloodgold, a currency obtained by defeating and destroying Gammeltrolls. These giants roam the Deep North, so be prepared for a formidable fight. Once a Gammeltroll is defeated, it will petrify and must be destroyed with ember charges. The petrified tissue from the defeated Gammeltroll can then be smelted into bloodgold using a blast furnace.

With bloodgold in hand, utilize it at your black forge in combination with an Intricate Key mould to create an Intricate Key cast. Add this cast to your Frost Foundry, along with ice, to produce liquid frost. Finally, pour this liquid frost into the foundry to generate an Intricate Key. This key can then be used to unlock the Deep North's locked doors, marking the completion of this challenging quest.
