Polis Sarawak is still actively working to recover human remains from a helicopter accident in Long Lellang, Sarawak, according to Police Chief Zainal Abdullah. The rescue mission was complicated by heavy rain. Abdullah stated that they are still at the scene, in the process of retrieving the bodies. Earlier, Malaysian Bomb and Rescue Department (JBPM) chairman Nor Hisham Mohammad informed that his team, along with police, are actively identifying bodies believed to be human remains at the scene.

These remains are being collected for identification purposes, including DNA testing by the Health Ministry and police, if necessary, primarily to confirm the victims' identities. BSUK units are expected to arrive in Miri later today to begin their investigation related to the crash. According to BSUK, the accident site is now under strict control, and the helicopter cannot be disturbed or moved without coordination with the agency.

"Movement of the relevant unit from Miri to the accident site in Long Lellang will be adjusted based on the current situation and availability of transportation," Abdullah said, according to Bernama. However, access to the accident site is not restricted to BSUK alone, as rescue agencies still need to perform their respective tasks at the site.

BSUK explained that the priority at the moment is the rescue and recovery operation by the relevant agencies, particularly police, fire, and other authorities. Earlier, Public Transport Authority Malaysia (CAAM) confirmed that a BO-105 helicopter carrying five people, including the pilot, crashed near the STOLport Long Lellang in Ulu Baram, about 930 km from Kuching.

CAAM informed that they received information on the incident involving the helicopter performing FDS operations at 3:58 pm.
