Upper Denkyira West improves educational infrastructure with new KG block

The Upper Denkyira West District has made significant progress in enhancing educational infrastructure under the guidance of District Chief Executive, Mr. Isaac Nsiah. In partnership with the Nananom, District Education Directorate, Assembly Members, staff, parents, contractors, and other stakeholders, the DCE inaugurated a newly constructed Kindergarten (KG) block at the Modaso Roman Catholic School.

At the event, Mr. Nsiah reiterated his dedication to improving educational facilities and completing pending projects in the district. He unveiled plans to introduce more facilities to bolster the education sector, emphasizing the government's resolve to eliminate tree-based schools.

The DCE also introduced a recognition scheme to honor schools excelling in infrastructure maintenance. He stressed the significance of fostering a strong maintenance culture and promoting community ownership for ensuring the longevity of educational facilities. The newly built KG block includes classrooms, furniture, a restroom, an office, and a kitchen, aiming to provide a safe, conducive, and child-friendly environment for teaching and learning.

The DCE expressed gratitude to traditional authorities, community members, and stakeholders for their cooperation and support during the construction process, commending them for acting as responsible watchdogs and facilitating the project's successful completion.

District Education Director, Mr. Nana Kusi, praised the government's initiative and stressed the importance of continued investment in educational infrastructure. He urged school authorities and communities to adopt a robust maintenance culture to preserve the facilities and ensure their utility for years to come. Mr. Kusi also highlighted other government initiatives supporting pupils, such as the provision of sanitary pads, school furniture, and mosquito nets, benefiting around 1,080 pupils.

Father Jude, on behalf of the Roman Catholic Church, thanked the government for the project and appealed for further infrastructure enhancements to further improve teaching and learning, urging the beneficiary community to view the new facility as their own and take responsibility for its upkeep.
