Umno tak boleh bergantung pada PH, PN, PAS atau DAP, kata Mohamad

Umno's Deputy President Mohamad Hasan has stressed that the party cannot rely on other political parties such as Pakatan Harapan (PH), Perikatan Nasional (PN), PAS, or DAP for political continuity. He emphasized that Umno must stand on its own strength and not depend on external political forces. He further stated that Umno cannot rely on anyone, whether it's PH, PN, PAS, or DAP. The deputy president made these remarks during the 2026 Women, Youth, and Beauty Umno Gathering at the World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur.

Mohamad stressed that Umno needs to build its own strength and strategy, as the party lacks other vital factors like resilience and the ability to rise. He also mentioned that while relying on other parties might help Umno achieve short-term goals, it could lead to greater losses in the long run. He reiterated that Umno has its own dignity and honor, which cannot be matched by anyone else. The party cannot be bought with periodic political cooperation, he added.

Umno needs to regain its own strength until it no longer needs any other party to ensure its political survival, he said. He noted that Umno has been in a state of survival since losing power in 2018 and has explored various possibilities to ensure the party remains relevant. He acknowledged that Umno's political approach might be perceived as difficult to forecast, but the decisions made were a part of the effort to find the best way for the party's survival and future.

Since 2018, Umno has participated in the PN government in March 2020, led the government in August 2021, and then formed a coalition government with PN in November 2022. Mohamad said that participating in the government is strategically important for Umno, but the party's past experiences also show that it needs to rebuild its strength anew.
