UAE’s Al Jaber proposes German-Emirati investment council to drive long-term industrial and technology partnership

Dr Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber, the UAE Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology and the UAE's Special Envoy to Germany, has proposed the creation of a German-Emirati Investment Council. This council aims to mobilize long-term capital and foster a strong partnership between the two nations in industry and technology, according to an opinion article in Germany's leading business and financial newspaper, Handelsblatt.

In the article, Al Jaber highlights that the UAE views Germany as a vital location for industry and technology and expresses confidence in their potential for joint growth. The relationship between the UAE and Germany has been growing, with a 15% increase in bilateral trade to €13.6 billion in 2025 and UAE exports to Germany rising by 58%.

Beyond this, the UAE has already invested over €34 billion in Germany, and more than 2,000 German companies operate in the UAE. The proposed council will work to identify investment opportunities, remove barriers for businesses, and drive long-term growth in advanced manufacturing, digital technologies, AI, healthcare, life sciences, and agritech.

The UAE-Germany partnership is set to deepen beyond trade, focusing on building stronger industries, more resilient economies, and supply chains, accelerating innovation, strengthening energy security, and creating new opportunities for both nations.
