UAE intensifies search, rescue, humanitarian operations in Nepal

Abu Dhabi: The United Arab Emirates is ramping up its humanitarian response to the devastating floods that have struck Nepal, focusing on search and rescue operations and delivering urgent relief to those affected. In collaboration with Nepalese authorities, the UAE Search and Rescue Team is actively engaged in field operations in Rasuwa District, employing advanced technologies such as drones for aerial imaging and three-dimensional mapping to expedite search and rescue efforts.

The team has dispatched four relief aircraft to Nepal, carrying a combined total of 186 tonnes of aid, which includes tents, food, shelter supplies, essential items, power generators, and logistical equipment. This provision has been supplemented by procuring essential supplies from Nepal's local market to accelerate the distribution of aid.

Additionally, a specialized search and rescue team from Dubai Police, equipped with cutting-edge devices and technologies, has been deployed to assist Nepalese authorities in locating missing persons and evaluating the impact of the floods. Hammoud Al Afari, Director of UAE Relief Operations, emphasized that UAE teams are persistently working in tandem with Nepalese authorities, utilizing all available resources and technical capabilities to aid in search and rescue operations and humanitarian relief missions, despite the demanding field conditions.
