Trump says Iran war will end right after US midterm elections

President Donald Trump asserted on Wednesday that the ongoing war with Iran will come to an abrupt end just after the upcoming U.S. midterm elections in November. According to Trump, Iran's attempts to sway the vote have left the regime with no other choice but to end the conflict. Speaking to reporters before heading to the Republican National Convention in Dallas, Trump stated, "I think war is going to end immediately after the election because they can't hold out any longer.

They're desperate to try and affect the election." The eighth month of the U.S.'s war with Iran has yet to show any signs of resolution. Just recently, Iran claimed responsibility for attacking ten ships near the Strait of Hormuz following the U.S.'s sinking of five Iranian oil tankers. The escalation in hostilities has led to a surge in oil prices, with benchmark Brent crude futures surpassing the $100 mark for the first time since July.

Trump's approval ratings have recently plummeted to a record low, largely due to voter frustration over the Iran war and the mounting cost-of-living crisis. The midterm elections, scheduled for November 3, are generally seen as a referendum on the incumbent president's performance.
