Travis Hunter's Position Gets More Clarity With Jaguars' First Depth Chart

The Jacksonville Jaguars have released their first depth chart, providing more insight into how they view second-year player Travis Hunter. The team drafted Hunter with the No. 2 overall pick in the 2025 draft, a move he had insisted on throughout his draft process. Hunter expressed a desire to play for a team that would utilize him on both sides of the ball, a belief that appears to have influenced the Jaguars' decision.

Hunter had seen significant action on both offense and defense during his rookie season, but suffered a season-ending LCL injury midway through. As he enters his second year, it seems the Jaguars are placing a greater emphasis on his defensive skills. On the Jaguars' depth chart, Hunter is listed as a backup wide receiver, trailing Parker Washington, Brian Thomas Jr., and Jakobi Meyers. However, he is also positioned as a starting cornerback.

General Manager James Gladstone had previously stated in May that Hunter is expected to play both sides of the ball. He mentioned that the Jaguars anticipate an increase in cornerback usage, noting that last season saw more emphasis on wide receiver play. Gladstone emphasized that this change would not impact Hunter's availability or usage on offense, but rather reflect an uptick in corner usage overall. The Jaguars will commence their season with a Week 1 game against the Cleveland Browns on Sunday.
