Timings for govt schools across Sindh reduced by an hour

The Sindh government has cut class hours for public schools by one hour until further notice, a circular from the Sindh School Education and Literacy Department announced on Wednesday. The reduced school timings will apply to the five days of the school week. All other terms and conditions from the previous circular remain the same.

Educational institution heads and field officers are required to enforce the new schedule diligently. Earlier this month, the Sindh government opted to end six-day school weeks for all public and private institutions. The department recently allocated Rs60 million to help Sindh's public school students compete in international academic events and certification programs.

Schools in the province had a brief spring break from March 16 to 31 due to austerity measures and fuel conservation efforts to address the economic fallout from the US-Israeli conflict with Iran. Following the resumption of classes on April 1, the government decreed that Saturdays and Sundays will now be designated as non-school days as part of the cost-cutting initiative.
