Tigers fall to Minnesota Twins despite home run from Kevin McGonigle

The Detroit Tigers suffered another one-run loss this season, falling to the Minnesota Twins 3-2 on Tuesday, Sept. 8, at Comerica Park. Despite a multi-RBI performance from shortstop Kevin McGonigle, the Tigers' offense couldn't keep up with the Twins' rally. Drew Anderson, the Tigers' starter, allowed three runs in 5⅓ innings, ultimately falling short of his longest start of the season.

A two-run home run from Twins' second baseman Kody Clemens in the sixth inning shifted the momentum, and McGonigle's opposite-field home run in the fifth inning gave Detroit a 2-1 lead, their first of the game. McGonigle's only RBI of the game came in the fifth inning, marking his 36th multi-hit game of the season. The Tigers will face Minnesota one last time on Wednesday, Sept. 9, at Comerica Park.
