Thailand top AVC Men’s Volleyball group C after five-set win over Chinese Taipei

Fukuoka, Japan—On 9th September 2026, Thailand's men's volleyball team secured a 3-2 victory over Chinese Taipei in a thrilling five-set match, finishing at the top of Group C of the 2026 AVC Men's Volleyball Continent Championship. The match, which was the final Group C fixture, determined the group champion as both teams had previously clinched their spots in the quarter-finals with wins from their first two matches.

Thailand, currently ranked No. 50 globally, took on No. 53 Chinese Taipei under the leadership of head coach Park Ki-won.

Park's initial lineup comprised Boonyarit Wongthon, Napadech Pinitdee, Chaiwat Thungkham, Thanat Bamrungphakdee, Anuchit Phakdeekaew, and Thoopdit Phraphut, with Nakarin Inthanu serving as the libero. Thailand took an early lead by winning the first set, 25-22. However, Chinese Taipei rebounded, winning the next two sets with strong attacks from their outside and back rows, leading 2-1.

In the fourth set, Thailand made a determined comeback, equalizing the score and forcing a fifth set. Leveraging new tactics, Thailand ultimately emerged victorious in the decisive set, 15-10, to clinch their third consecutive win and claim the Group C title.
