Telangana raises AYUSH stipends, on par with allopathic House Surgeons and PGs

Following a 28-day strike by Ayurvedic, Homoeopathic, Unani and Naturopathy students, the Telangana government has approved an increase in their stipends, aligning them with those of their allopathic counterparts. The decision, outlined by Health Secretary Christina Z. Chongthu in a government order, is a response to a proposal put forth by the Department of AYUSH's Director.

Under the new structure, the monthly stipend for AYUSH House Surgeons has been elevated from ₹13,754 to ₹29,792. This adjustment applies to 405 House Surgeons, comprising 126 Ayurveda, 125 Homoeopathy, 94 Unani and 60 Naturopathy students. Furthermore, the government has significantly raised the stipends for AYUSH postgraduate students.

First-year PG students' monthly stipend has been raised from ₹30,947 to ₹67,032, while second-year students now receive ₹70,757 instead of the previous ₹32,665. Third-year PG students' stipend has been increased from ₹34,385 to ₹74,482. The revised amounts will benefit 393 PG students, including 131 in each of the first, second and third years.
