Team calls Chinese race organizers ‘grossly negligent’ in conduct around fiery crash

A car racing team whose driver was critically injured in a fiery crash during a Grand Prix event in Shanghai has criticized the race organizers for being "grossly negligent in their safety response." The accident occurred when British driver Ollie Millroy's car caught fire during a GT race. Another competitor, Loek Hartog, quickly stopped his own vehicle and used a fire extinguisher to rescue Millroy from the burning wreckage.

Millroy, who sustained multiple serious injuries including six broken ribs, a broken collarbone, a broken hand, and a punctured lung, credited Hartog's immediate intervention for his survival. He expressed deep gratitude in a post on his Instagram account, emphasizing that Hartog's actions were a testament to the instinctive bravery that should be commonplace, not exceptional.

In a lengthy statement, Millroy's team, AAI Motorsports, harshly criticized the conduct of the Chinese race organizers, questioning their commitment to driver safety.
