Google has upgraded all Gemini side panels across Google Workspace to share identical features, regardless of the specific app being used. Previously, each Workspace app had its own unique Gemini capabilities: Docs generated personalized documents, Sheets built AI-powered spreadsheets, Gmail sent emails, Drive built AI-powered spreadsheets, and Chat scheduled meetings.

Now, Gemini in Gmail, Drive, Docs, Slides, and Chat all possess the same feature set. This upgrade relies on Workspace Intelligence and enhanced app integrations. For instance, in Google Docs, Gemini can now send an email to a sales team for review and feedback, rather than requiring the user to navigate to Gmail. In Google Chat, users can find open times, schedule meetings, or resolve calendar conflicts.

Google Tasks can now instantly log a reminder or create a to-do list from any service. The expanded feature set began rolling out this month, available to Google AI Pro subscribers ("excluding scheduling functionality") and Google AI Ultra. Gemini's capabilities are also extending to other Workspace services.
